Customer Reviews

Unplayable (2009-01-02)
Right now, I have to give Socom C one star. It's an online-only game, which simply can't be played online. Constant booting from games and getting disconnected from servers. It's just a pathetic mess right now. Before anyone comments about the connection problems being on my side, please stop. I've been playing online for years now with PS2 and PS3 and have NEVER had any problems...until now.

The general controls are also a bit clunky. No more leaning with the d-pad, you have to use SIXXAIS to do it. Yeah, real smart. Throwing a grenade with your controller slanted to one side, but not too much, has to be perfect to get the lean, is a joke. Weapon switching is also a real pain. It's a selection wheel that works, well, some of the times. It also automatically switches your secondary weapon to whatever weapon you chose in the wheel, which in turn, changes your quick switch weapon. So, if your have your secondary set as your pistol, but you want to use a claymore real quick, your secondary, and quick switch weapon is now a claymore. WTF? Quick switch used to be selectable, now, it's not.

Slant Six, the developers, are promising a patch within the first two weeks of January. I'm not holding out much hope that it will correct any of their connection problems.

Bottom line is that this is a woefully inadequate game that was pushed out the door to make the holiday season, and it looks like it's barely out of Alpha right now...forget about Beta.

If things change with the new patch, I'll update, but I'm not holding my breath. $40 for an online-only game that you can't play online. Yeah, awesome. Looks like I bought a $40 drink coaster.

I don't get it. (2008-12-18)
I used to be so into socom when I had my PS2. I used to be online all the time. I was super excited when this version came out but till it came out I was playing COD4. I'd never played COD4 before because I never liked the WWII theme. But anyway coming back to the Socom series after COD4 was too ummmm...how should I say it...slow? First off...no single player game? I always use the single player mode to learn the controls and such (unless I missed the single player mode). But anyway after playing COD4 this Socom crazy gamer is totally not interested in Socom anymore. I don't know how else to put it...I can't help comparing it to COD4 because it got me all excited and stuff but Socom just feel so slow.

Nice game to play (2008-12-14)
Great for Multiplayers only. The game needs a bit more work on to be perfect.

Not Impressed.. (2008-11-26)
I picked up this game with even reading some of the bad reviews about it, stating that the servers sucked and that gamers were disappointed. Although, I did read recent reviews that stated that the game got updated and the servers were alot better, so I decided to give it a shot.

So after the hour long installation that took place and updates to the current version (which was 1.20). I finally started the game. I went in and created my character and already I could tell some lag even in the menu. So I tried to play a game and was completely frustrated with the whole deal about getting a game going and the servers taking so long to respond that the game was filled up before I could get in. I finally got into a game and was up against ONE person. It lagged so bad, and I could not get used to the game for the life of me, and im usually a 3rd person shooter fan, (Dead Space, Resident Evil 4, etc).

This game does not deliver, period.

Sorely disappointed (2008-11-25)
Perhaps Call Of Duty 4 has set such a high bar, that it was inevitable that SOCOM CONFRONTATION would disappoint. Although the size and details of the maps is impressive, getting on and playing were rare feats. Until the initial rush of players levels off, I'm going to hold off trying any more. If I could get a refund I would send this game back.
